AC Repair for Boise Homes
A broken air conditioner turns a hot Treasure Valley day into a long one. Our HVAC technicians repair all major brands and system types. Repair is the most common call within our air conditioning services. Our service vehicles carry a large stock of parts. That lets us finish many repairs in a single visit. We have served the Treasure Valley since 1946.
What Happens During a Repair Visit
Each visit starts with a full check of your system. We test how it cools and how air moves through it. We check refrigerant levels and the coils. Then we explain what we found and what it will cost to fix. You decide before any work begins.
Common AC Problems We Fix
Some problems come up again and again. Here are the ones we see most.
Refrigerant Leaks
Your AC needs the right amount of refrigerant to cool. A leak lowers that charge and weakens cooling. It also makes the compressor overheat. We find the leak, seal it and recharge the system. We service older R22 and R410A systems, plus newer systems that use R-454B and R-32.
Frozen or Dirty Coils
Ice on the indoor coil is a classic sign of low refrigerant. Poor airflow can freeze the coil too. A dirty coil also traps heat and cuts cooling. Our coil cleaning and repair service clears buildup and fixes damaged coils.
Weak Airflow and Warm Air
A clogged filter is often to blame for weak airflow. Other causes include coil buildup and worn parts. Warm air from the vents can mean a refrigerant or compressor problem. We trace the cause and fix it.
Signs of a Refrigerant Leak
Refrigerant leaks are among the most serious AC problems. Watch for these signs:
- Your home does not cool like it used to
- A hissing sound from the indoor or outdoor unit
- Bubbles or moisture around the unit or air handler
- Ice on the evaporator coil
- Higher humidity indoors, even with the AC running
- Energy bills that keep rising
Why Refrigerant Leaks Happen
Refrigerant runs under very high pressure. Even a tiny pinhole can grow into a real leak. Some leaks start with poor installation, when brazed joints were not sealed well. Years of vibration can also loosen joints. Now and then, a part has a factory defect. Fixing a leak early protects the compressor, which is the most costly part to replace.
Refrigerant Safety
Older systems use R22 refrigerant. R22 is an HCFC that harms the ozone layer. It can push breathable air out of a room. Breathing it in high amounts can make you very sick. Leaks in basements and crawlspaces are the most dangerous because air moves less there. If you think refrigerant is leaking, leave the area. Then call a licensed HVAC technician. We service older R22 and R410A systems, plus newer systems that use R-454B and R-32.
When a Repair Is Not the Best Fix
Most AC problems are worth fixing. Sometimes a new system costs less over time. A failed compressor on an older unit is the most common example. We give you an honest comparison of both options. If replacement makes more sense, we can walk you through AC installation choices.
